Building Backyard Ponds with DIY Small Fish Pond Makeovers!
Building backyard ponds underground is not difficult! My husband is not satisfied with the earlier pond designs and the pond size. He realised that, the first pond was too small and totally out of place. So, he had built the second goldfish pond. During the past winter season, he finally realised that, he had taken too much of our garden space; he felt that, the pond had slightly over ruled the backyard landscape design. He learned about "Balance" and "Harmony"! Yes, he could not wait for the winter to be over; he built again; the third goldfish pond to the size of 555cm or 18.2 feet(L) x 115cm or 3.7 feet(W) x 16cm or 6 inch(H). Our materials are 12 pieces of wood from 180cm or 5.9 feet(L) x 7cm or 2.75 inch(H) x 7cm(W) for the length of the pond, and 4 pieces of 115cm or 3.7 feet(L) x 2cm or 0.75 inch(H) x 14.5 cm or 5.7 inch(W) for the width.
Are you wondering why the fish pond is in such an odd size? The size of the pond is measured according to the maximum length of our garden. The size of the wood materials we used are always 180cm in length: This size is easy to handle, easy for transportation, and it can easily be re-used for building greenhouses, flower containers, borders of the garden, compost pile, or any other accessories when we need it. He dug a depth of 60cm (2 feet), 2 x 45cm (0.75 x 1.5 feet), and 2x 35cm (0.75 x 1 feet) holes.
